Mita-Teknik part of Pilot Plant
Poseidon 37, a pilot plant that is reaping both the wind and wave power is currently being tested near Lolland, Denmark.
The floating power plant consists of a wave power module acting as the base of three small wind turbines. At this time, the plant is only developed in scale 1:6. A full-scale plant will be 230 meters with three 2MW wind turbines.
“We are progressing slowly and focus on the importance of measurements and tests in order to continuously improve the design and documentation of the plant.” Project Leader and Engineer, Anders Køhler, from the company Floating Power Plant, explains. To ensure optimal operation and advanced data collection, the three Gaia-Wind 133-11kW small wind turbines are equipped with the IC1000 Control System delivered by Mita-Teknik. A customized communication protocol makes it possible to receive real time data from the wind turbines into the SCADA system.

Last year, the wave power module was tested without wind turbines. Now, the three wind turbines are mounted and in the next six months the floating power plant will be tested again. “We expect the wind turbines to produce 25-40 percent of the plant's total energy production and since we are also saving costs on the offshore base, the economy is improved dramatically.” Anders Køhler, Floating Power Plant, explains. The Management of Floating Power Plant will gradually expand the combined wave and wind power plant project. They expect that a 1:3 scale plant will be build within the next 3 years and a full-scale plant within the next 5 years.
